Biodiversity Advisor​

Deborah Nagan

Deborah is a Biodiversity Net Gain advisor to Terra Instinct. She holds a BA(Hons) in Geography from the University of Oxford and an MLA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Greenwich.

Deborah’s experience is focused on creating ethically and sustainably sound places through landscape-led master planning and environmental strategies. Her project for the Faculty of Arts at the University of Westminster has just been shortlisted for the 2023 Stirling Prize.  In this capacity, Deborah is a Mayor’s Design Advisor for the Mayor of London and sits on the Design Review Panels for Westminster, Brent, Croydon and through the South East. Design Review experience (including HS2) provides her with oversight of new development at scale across the country. Deborah is a passionate advocate for design with nature as the basis for sustainable development and is a regular speaker on built-environment issues.

Deborah also established the Place & Nature division at the Future Homes Hub, which focuses on navigating the house-building sector through Biodiversity Net Gain. At Terra Instinct, Deborah advises on the Terra Exchange (for BNG trading) and provides strategic BNG advice to clients.
