care homes
Low-carbon heat and hot water, installed around your residents
Safe, guaranteed hot water. Lower running costs. Zero disruption to care.
●Safe hot water, always
●Lower energy bills
●No disruption to care
The challenge
Why care homes are harder than most buildings
24/7
Always occupied
There is no quiet weekend or empty floor to work in. Every change happens with residents at home.
DHW
Hot water drives the load
Bathing, laundry and kitchens create heavy hot-water demand all day, and the existing plant is almost always sized well above it.
1°C
Residents feel every degree
Older and frailer residents are sensitive to cold rooms and to scalding water. Comfort and safety bands are not negotiable.
The constraint we design around: no disruption to vulnerable residents, with safe temperature bands held throughout the works and afterwards.
The solution
Right-sized plant, uninterrupted comfort
Each system is sized to what the home actually uses, which we measure first, rather than to what the old boilers were rated for.
Core system
Heat pump
An air-source heat pump with a quick-recovery hot-water store, sized to the measured load. It stores water at 60°C or above, and mixing valves blend it to a safe temperature at every tap.
Controls
Energy management system
Controls tuned to hot-water demand, occupancy and resident comfort. The plant runs less and costs less to operate.
Space heating
Where the existing radiators can run at heat-pump temperatures, all changes stay in the plant room. Where they can’t, we upgrade them room by room around residents.
Rooftop solar
Solar panels where the roof allows, to cut electricity bills and grid draw. EV charging where there is a commercial case for it.
VRF cooling
Zoned comfort cooling for lounges, dining rooms and communal spaces, so residents stay comfortable through hot summers.
Safe hot water at every stage
In line with HSE guidance on hot water in health and social care.
≥60°C
Stored
In the quick-recovery cylinder, to control Legionella
≥50°C
Circulated
Returning around the hot-water loop
≤44°C
At the tap
Blended by mixing valves before it reaches residents
What we survey
We measure before we design
Grid supply capacity
How much electrical headroom the site has for heat pumps
Existing thermal plant
Boilers, cylinders, pumps and pipework, and what can stay
Actual hot-water demand, flow-metered
Real usage, not the plant’s nameplate rating
Resident comfort and safe temperature bands
Room temperatures and outlet temperatures today
AI-assisted consumption analysis
Usage patterns across the day and the year, used to size the system
The TI difference
Controls that follow the home’s real occupancy
We link hot-water and heating control to live occupancy data from the building manager. The system learns how the home is actually used, so chronic over-sizing turns into a measured system that keeps improving.

Paying for it
Two ways to fund it, the same install either way
Pick the model that suits your balance sheet. The technology and the low-disruption delivery don't change.
Option 1
Zero CapEx
Fully funded
TI funds, installs, owns and maintains the system. You pay for the heat delivered, not for the fuel going into the plant.
No upfront cost and nothing on your balance sheet
Lower operating costs, with no capital outlay
Maintenance included for the life of the contract
Best for: operators who want the saving without the capital commitment.
Option 2
You own the upside
CapEx upfront
You fund the capital and keep 100% of the returns.
Landlords recover the value through tenants for a positive IRR
Owner-operators keep the OpEx saving, with a 5–8 year payback
A 20–25 year asset life
Best for: owners who want the full long-term return.
A better EPC and a protected asset
Moving off gas lifts the EPC, keeps the home ahead of tightening MEES rules and supports its value.
Lower running costs
A right-sized heat pump and smarter controls use less energy than oversized gas plant.
Solar and EV where they pay
Rooftop generation cuts grid draw; EV charging is added only where it earns its keep.
